Passage

Grand Prize, IESNYC Student Lighting Competition

Suspended layers of scrim served as the projection medium for an exploration of animated shapes that questioned how light could offer a physical experience of dimension.

A single dot projected across six sheets of scrim first presented a single dimension in tangible space. As the dot morphed into a line, and the line into a box, the visual effects of scale and depth created a passage into an abstract, dimensional environment—one in which light transcended material and enveloped the observer in a room of their mind’s design.
